I hope that everyone is thawing out from that old fashion winter. I’d like to take time to send out our prayers to Bill and Sandy Councell for the loss of Bill’s mother. I’d also like to thank Richard Rohrbeck for making all of our sign stands. He has been a real asset to this club.
Now, I’d like to talk about some issues that have came up recently and in the past. We know that our June 7th sale is on the same date as the Wolf Lake sale, but we had no other dates that we could schedule the Charlotte fair grounds. We talk to Harold Wolf every year to discuss the dates of his sales before we set our dates. We do this because we know that several of our members go to both sales. Unfortunately we had no choice. So we apologize but the Charlotte sale will be held on June 7th, 2008. We will do everything in our power to make sure this does not happen for the 2009 sales.
I’d also like to talk about the quality of our sales. In the past, we’ve had people want to sell other items besides birds and animals. This issue has been addressed several times by the board and we feel that our swaps need to stay as bird and animal sales. Not a rummage sale. It is completely acceptable to sell items that are associated with birds and animals (i.e. bird feeders, honey, etc.) So please help us uphold our reputation and sell things that are appropriate for the sale.
In the past, there has also been concern about the birds and animals that come into the sale without enough cage space. It is important for everybody’s cages to be clean and presentable. “Clean and healthy sells, Dirty and sickly doesn’t”.
Furthermore, I’d like to invite each one of you to attend our board meetings. The next meeting will take place right after the raffle at Imlay City. If you have any questions, problems or would like to just listen in on a meeting, we would like to hear your input. As a board, we are dedicated to doing what is best for the club, the members and of course — the birds and animals.
I hope all of you have a great season and I wish all of you the best. I can’t wait to see all of you on April 26th.
Sincerely — Jeff Hedrick
